Head of "Management of complex geometries" - Design by Data Advanced Master
Romain Mesnil is a structural engineer and researcher based in Paris. He is currently the manager of the innovation and research platform on digital fabrication for architecture at l'Ecole des Ponts ParisTech. With master degrees from MIT and l'Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, Romain Mesnil is a specialist of the design of free-form structures. In his PhD thesis, he explored new ways to merge structural performance, computational geometry, optimization strategies and fabrication-aware design for non-standard architecture.
On his spare time, he is co-founder and community manager of Thinkshell, a website promoting innovative research on lightweight structures.
His research has been published in international journals like Automation in Construction, the Journal of the IASS, the International Journal of Space Structures, Engineering Structures or the International Journal of Architectural Computing. He has presented in international events, like Advances in Architectural Geometry and Symposia of the International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures.
